An 81st-minute goal from defender Sayibu Yakubu was enough to secure all 3 points from second-place Koforidua Semper Fi at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex, Tema New Town on matchday 17 of the ongoing Division One League.
Vision FC began the game on a very high note as they found them after kick-off. Manager Hamza’s charges came close to breaking the deadlock two minutes into the game, but Kwame Otu’s drive was whisked away by the Semper Fi goalkeeper Michael Appiah.
Otu came close again moments later after Emmanuel Essel’s shot hit the crossbar and fell on the path of the former, but, he shot wide.
Twumasi came to the rescue to prevent his side from conceding after he cleared his line with a fantastic save.
The game was still barren with Vision creating the best scoring opportunities in the first half but all were fluffed before the break.
After recess, Vision began well by creating a few chances but failed to convert them. The highly-spirited Semper Fi side tried to mount pressure on Vision but was hit on the counter by the latter most often.
Hamza’s men resurged to dominate play in the half of the visitors but continued to miss the numerous chances that came their way.
Finally, Essel’s corner-kick cross was headed to the way of Yakubu who made no mistake as his header zoomed straight in the net to open the score for the Vision less than ten minutes from time. The visitors chased an equalizer without success as the game finally ended after 5 minutes of added time with Vision picking their second consecutive win of the second round.
Vision will make a short trip to Dansoman to face Liberty Professionals next Sunday.
